What's New for 2024?
The Solterra rolls into its second year with a few notable enhancements, including a low-speed hands-free driving mode, intersection collision mitigation, and automatic lane-changing capability. A new squared-off steering wheel shape makes it easier to view the gauge cluster, while new paddles allow for easier adjustment of the regenerative braking system. Subaru also states that an updated battery warming system should improve charging in cold weather.
Performance, Range, and Charging
The Subaru Solterra is propelled by a dual-motor Subaru StarDrive® powertrain, generating 215 horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque. The EV-tuned Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system provides surefooted handling in various conditions, while dual-function X-MODE® enhances traction with additional settings for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud. Other handling attributes include hill ascent and descent assistance and a new Grip Control system for better stability on rough roads and uneven surfaces.
A 72.8-kWh battery gives the Solterra an EPA-estimated 227 miles of range with 18-inch wheels or 222 miles when equipped with 20-inch wheels. Charging takes about nine hours using Level 2 (240V) equipment. Or you can use DC fast-charging on extended journeys, refilling the battery from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 35 minutes.
Interior
The Solterra's cabin is stylish and inviting, with a sleek, modern design, an intuitive layout, and seats that are nicely cushioned and supportive for long-distance comfort. There's ample headroom and legroom for all passengers, 23.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and an adjustable rear load floor to accommodate taller items. When your errands and adventures require more storage, you can fold the rear seats to access 63.5 cubic feet or use the standard raised roof rails.
Numerous amenities are available to enhance your Solterra experience, including standard dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, heated front seats, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Depending on the configuration, you find even more comforts and conveniences, including:
