SANTA BARBARA, Calif., November 16, 2011 -- ALG, a subsidiary of TrueCar, Inc., and the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data, today announced its 13th Annual Residual Value Awards, with Subaru and Lexus earning the awards for top mainstream and luxury brands, respectively. Japanese models continued their overall dominance, winning 11 of the 21 ALG awards.

ALG's Residual Value Awards honor the vehicles in each segment that are predicted to retain the highest percentage off their MSRP after a conventional three-year period.

"Residual value is a great indicator of brand strength which in turn contributes to greater sales and profitability," said Raj Sundaram for ALG. "We have seen a strong focus this year on producing high-quality products with great pricing and packaging delivering real value for vehicle buyers."

In a highly competitive marketplace, the 2012 awards recognize those brands that are committed to improving residuals by delivering superior products to customers..

Subaru of America won the Mainstream Brand Residual Value Award, landing at the top of the segment for the third year in a row. Two Subaru models also received individual segment awards: the Legacy (in the Midsize Car category) and the Outback (Midsize Utility Vehicle category).

Subaru two years in a row earned the coveted title of Sport Utility of the Year by Motor Trend Magazine. In 2009 it was the newly redesigned 2009 Subaru Forester and for 2010 it was the newly redesigned 2010 Subaru Outback. That shows Subarus high commitment to engineering industry leading safe, reliable , and stylish cars .

Subaru: Setting Sales Records in the Apocalypse

Subaru had no new sheet metal to display at the Chicago auto show, but it did have an announcement other car makers wish they could make.

Not only did Subaru's 2009 U.S. sales results improve on those from 2008, when Subie says it was the only manufacturer to post a sales increase (it dismisses Mini's 08 increase, since Mini is part of BMW), but the company also posted its best ever annual U.S. sales last year. The numbers: Subaru's 2009 U.S. sales total came to 216,652 vehicles, a 15-percent gain over 2008. The previous best was 200,703 achieved in 2006.

The achievement is all the more striking in view of the dismal performance of the U.S. market over those two calendar years.

Not only is Subaru continuing to stock pile awards and great reviews from the automotive community , they are holding strong to their core values. Subaru has received many awards, but none as important as the one they received from The Insurance Institute For Highway Safety. The IIHS gave Subaru the great honor of being the only manufacturer with its complete new car model line up to receive the Top Safety Pick in 2010. The Outback , Forester , Impreza , Legacy , and Tribeca all received this award, due to Subaru's great technology, but more importantly all of that technology goes into every Subaru on every trim level.
